Exciting walking tour starts on 17 August at 11am Susannah Cibber’s London.

The tour starts in Covent Garden and concludes at Handel Museum where visitors can see Was Despiséd: Handel and Susannah Cibber

Google Books has a copy of An Account of the life of that celebrated actress Mrs Susannah Cibber who was sister to the composer Thomas Arne who is principally known for Rule, Britannia!

Susannah Cibber was a promising young actress who was accused of adultery by her husband.  Fate, however, was on her side because she was in the right place at the right time and sang as the premier of the Messiah in Dublin in 1742.  On her return to London she spent many years as David Garrick’s leading lady.
